Dos Gatos from above

I found this picture on a site called www.nearmap.com. It’s the first time I have managed to find the boat in a satellite photo - not for want of time spent trawling through Google Maps! Here she is on a mooring in the Burnett River at Bundaberg. It was taken on 13th July when we were still on the road in the caravan.

Caravan sold, Landcruiser available

We have sold our off-road caravan, now we’re just looking for a buyer for the Landcruiser! Anyone want a 1983 Toyota Landcruiser 4x4?

Back in the water

We were launched from Bundaberg Slipway late Saturday. It was touch-and-go whether the tide would be high enough to get us off the trailer but, with a combination of the engines and Russ, the yard owner, we got her moving. Now she’s tied up in the Midtown Marina, we’ve moved back aboard and are in the process of setting things straight..

Hauled out in Bundaberg

Dos Gatos is out on the hard for a couple of weeks at Bundaberg Slipways.
We have damage on the starboard bow from the February flood to be fixed, and we have to have the engines serviced.
We expect to be relaunched on the 20th.

23,000 kms later

After driving nearly 14,000 miles around Australia over five and a half months we are back in Bundaberg.

The boat is still floating at a mooring out in the river - we’ll go aboard tomorrow and check her out. Particularly, to make sure the batteries are charged and the engines run - she’s due to be hauled out on Friday.

We really enjoyed the trip - although it’s a really long way. We saw lots of varied landscapes and wildlife - but it was a long way between them!

We could have spent more time in many places; we particularly ran out of time in the last few weeks.

Next, we get down to work on the boat - haul-out for two weeks, another week or two of maintenance and provisioning, and then we’re off to the Solomon Islands.
