They have Kangaroos here!

We've been in Bundaberg six weeks, comfortably moored in the Burnett River at Midtown Marinas. We've started on boat chores -- buying parts, replacing head plumbing ;-(, cleaning all the lockers -- but we've had time to look around too.

Bundaberg is a pleasant small town in an agricultural region. Plenty of the smaller type of shops and a couple of malls. Great bird watching. From the boat we see Ibis, plus white Australian Pelicans, Spoonbills and Parrots. Also flocks of Flying Foxes every evening.

The nearest city is Brisbane, four hours away by an excellent train service -- we made an overnight excursion a few weeks ago. We've also traveled inland to see more of the landscape. Cania Gorge National Park is 200km away and the terrain could be California until you see the kangaroo beside the road or the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo flying over.

For Christmas Day, the boaters gathered in the marina for a barbeque this afternoon. We have our Christmas Lights up - and I'm running the generator to power them.

A very Merry Christmas to all our Readers!
